In Trinidad and Tobago Phonograms or Sound Recordings are protected under the laws of Neighboring/Related rights. At present our copyright act states that a sound recording shall be protected for fifty (50) calendar years from the first release or first fixation.

We are asking that this be extended from 50 years to 95 years. Reason being, owners of sound recordings and their beneficiaries can enjoy a longer period of protection.
